The Bull Cemetery is located in Clarke Co., MS; 7.2 miles East of Quitman, MS, several hundred feet off State Highway 18 East, to the right on a logging road. As of Jan 99, extensive logging has been completed in the area and it is virtually treeless now. This is a small cemetery and is enclosed by a fence with gate. We only found seven markers; although, chances are there are more burials there.
Additonal info on the cemetery was sent to me by Billy Beckman and is provided here with permission: "My Grandmother, Minnie Love Bull Dearman passed this information on to me. What she did not give me I got from Bible records, letter and cencus records. It seems like Edward Bull came from N.C. to Clarke Co. Ms. Married Lucretia (Elizabeth ) ?, from Al. about 1845. He must have had a farm around Crossroads Church area somewhere. Believe to have started Cem. when one member of the family died. Edward & Elizabeth had a big family and most of them were born in Clarke Co. Moved to Hinton, Al. Choctaw Co. around 1860. When one of the family died, they usually buried them in the Bull Cem. James Charles Bull married my Great Grandmother, Margaret (Mag) Long Bull. When one of his Brothers died James & Mag raised his two daughters, Babe and Jessie Nora along with there three daughters, Mattie, Minnie Love and Nora Darling. Mattie's boyfriend Joe Haney killed James C. Bull over Mattie and Haney and Mattie disappeared. Reward offered but never claimed. Later Mag married James W. Griffin. My Great Grandfather Bull is buried at Antioch Cem. Legend has it that when old Edward Bull died he was hunting around Hinton, Al. area and it took four days to find his body."
