1840 index - the page number of the original census on which the person's name is shown; the number in parenthesis indicates the number of times that surname appears on the page
1850 index - the family number as listed in the census; the number in parenthesis indicates the total number of persons in that family group with that surname (if more than one)
1860 index - the family number as listed in the census
1870 index - the family number as listed in the census
