Individual data contained on this page may be used for personal, non-profit purposes; however the entire page or portions thereof may NOT be copied, cut'n'pasted, downloaded, or otherwise duplicated for any reason, including posting elsewhere, without express permission of the compiler above.
Hopewell United Methodist Church and Cemetery are located in Clarke Co., MS; 11.3 miles East of Quitman, MS. Directions: Take State Highway 18 East from Quitman (at US Highway 145) 11.3 miles to County Road 416. Turn right--church and cemetery are located on the left at the top of the hill.
We have shown dates in the DDMMMYYYY format for easier reading. The (double marker) note means two separate headstones with surname between resting on a double base. The (double base) means two separate headstones (with full names) resting on a double base. Row numbers were determined as best as we could using the cemetery layout and may not necessarily agree with any other compilation (if any) or official cemetery records. Abbreviations used here are as follows: BB = Brick Border; CB = Concrete Border; CS = Concrete Slab; DM = Double Marker; DBS = Double Base; FHM = Funeral Home Marker; FM = Foot Marker; FS = Foot Stone; GB = Granite Border; GS = Granite Slab.
We have tried diligently to copy all inscriptions accurately; however, there is no guarantee that this work is 100% correct. If anyone sees an obvious error, please do not hesitate to let us know. All rows were read from left to right.
Note: Since publishing the cemetery book in which this listing first appeared, I have found errors I made when I entered the data from my handwritten compilation; corrections have been made for this posting. These changes appear in red on this page. Minor typo corrections are not included.
