Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery
Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery
Compiled Apr 99 by Bennie and Lance WHITE

From my book, Cemetery Inscriptions of Clarke County, Mississippi, Vol. I

Individual data contained on this page may be used for personal, non-profit purposes; however the entire page or portions thereof may NOT be copied, cut'n'pasted, downloaded, or otherwise duplicated for any reason, including posting elsewhere, without express permission of the compiler above.

Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery is located in the southeastern corner of Clarke Co., MS. From Quitman, take State Highway 18 East for 1.2 miles; bear right on State Highway 511 South for 17 miles. Church is on the left (it has been said that part of the church is actually in Choctaw Co., AL) and cemetery is across the highway on the right. The photo at left was taken across the highway (on the church side) looking west.

We have shown dates in the DDMMMYYYY format for easier reading. The (double marker) note means two separate headstones with surname between resting on a double base. The (double base) means two separate headstones (with full names) resting on a double base. Row numbers were determined as best as we could using the cemetery layout and may not necessarily agree with any other compilation (if any) or official cemetery records. Abbreviations used here are as follows: BB = Brick Border; CB = Concrete Border; CS = Concrete Slab; DM = Double Marker; DBS = Double Base; FHM = Funeral Home Marker; FM = Foot Marker; FS = Foot Stone; GB = Granite Border; GS = Granite Slab.

We have tried diligently to copy all inscriptions accurately; however, there is no guarantee that this work is 100% correct. If anyone sees an obvious error, please do not hesitate to let us know.

Note: Since publishing the cemetery book in which this listing first appeared, I have found errors/omissions when I entered the data from my handwritten compilation; corrections have been made for this posting. These changes appear in red on this page. Minor typo corrections are not included.
