Our community was greatly saddened last Wednesday night when death of Thos. J. CORBETT was announced; had been complaining and remained at home until late in the evening when he came to his store, and returned after a brief stay; Mrs. CORBETT remained at the store and at a late hour went home to find him in a stuper (sic) from which she and her neighbors could not arouse him; passed away at 8:30 PM; born and reared in Enterprise; only son of Cornelius CORBETT; was 38; married Miss Annie KLING of Meridian; has one sister, Alexis, Gulfport; mother resides at Jackson, TN; member in good standing of the I. O. O. F. and was a pass grand of that order, which consigned his body to the grave Thursday evening, 3:30 o'clock.Tombstones at Enterprise Cemetery:

Mr. A(lbert) G. LEACH passed away at his home near Enterprise on Sunday last at 2:40 after a very brief illness; born and reared in WV; fought in Civil War with the 16th WV Regiment and Grand Army of the Republic; after war, moved to MN; came to Enterprise 17 years ago; wore Medal of Honor for distinguished gallantry on field of battle; survivors - wife; six children, Mrs. H. RUDOLPH, Misses Gennie, Ella, Lucy; two boys, Charlie and Arthur; nine grandchildren; funeral conducted by Rev. A. B. Coit; interment in Odd Fellows cemetery (present day Enterprise Cemetery)Most of the above people have tombstones at Enterprise Cemetery:

Mrs. Anna FLOYD of Shubuta, widow of the late Judge J. M. FLOYD?, died at Shubuta last Tuesday, aged 77 years; mother of Mrs. T. B. HUDSON, Mrs. John McCORMICK, S. H. FLOYD, and J. C. FLOYD of Shubuta, and G. A. FLOYD of Laurel; consistent member of the Methodist Church from girlhood.
DEATH AT SHUBUTA
Dr. John McCORMICK, 30, died last Tuesday morning, 12:10, of consumption, at home of his parents, Shubuta. Survivors - father and mother; three brothers; a sister.
DEATH OF JUDGE TERRAL
Judge TERRAL died yesterday at his home in Quitman. Reared in Jasper Co., MS, near Vossburg. Afterwards, moved to Quitman. During Civil War, elected major of his company. Elected District Attorney. (Note: The obit has more on his political career, but no survivors listed).
DEATH OF MR. C. H. VORHES(Note: The "I. O. O. F." was the Independent Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery. The present name (2008) is Enterprise Cemetery)
Mr. C. H. VORHES, a resident of this place, died Sunday everning, 1:30. Buried Monday afternoon in the I. O. O. F. Cemetery, under the auspices of Masonic fraternity. Came to Enterprise in 1896 and went into banking business. Owner of Clarke County Bank until merger with Bank of Enterprise. Survivors - wife, daighter, son, Mr. F. C. VORHES, who is present cashier at Bank of Enterprise.
Mr. E. P. FITZGERALD passed away at his home in this city last Monday night after a short illness of typhoid fever; buried Tuesday afternoon in the Odd Fellows Cemetery by Woodmen of the World, of which order he was a member; born 51 years ago, Whistler, Ala; as a child, moved with parents to Waynesboro, Miss., where he was raised; entered service of M & O Ry; promoted to Section Foreman and later to Supervisor; married to Miss Lou ORR of Succonochie, who with 12 children, survive him; other survivors - father and several brothers, one a well known passenger conductor on Mobile and Ohio Ry.(Note: The Odd Fellows Cemetery above refers to present day Enterprise Cemetery)
