Geo. W. KENNEDY

PROMINENT CLARKE COUNTIAN DEAD - On the evening of 25 Jan 1926, Geo. W. KENNEDY, resident of Harmony community, departed this life after a lingering illness of more than five years. He was born 16 Aug 1858, near Melvin, Choctaw Co., and resided there until Jan 1902, when he removed to his late home here. Survivors - wife, Mrs. G. W. KENNEDY; three sons, Messrs Wyatt, John, and Charles KENNEDY; five daughters, Mrs. Eugene GORDON, Mrs. Gordon MATHIS, Mrs. Andrew HARWELL, Mrs. Knox KIRKLAND, and Mrs. Fred THERRELL. The younger son, W. S. KENNEDY was among those braves who gave their lives on the battle lines of France. He was beloved of his father as was Joseph by Jacob. He lamented much for his princely son. There are a goodly number of grandchildren also who survive him. Brother Kennedy made a profession of faith and united with Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church when about 15 years of age, and was a member of Harmony Church at his death. Funeral rites conducted by Rev. Joshua Phillips, his former and very much loved pastor, and interment was at McGowan Chapel Cemetery.

Christopher Columbus McNEILL died 4 Feb 1926, 8 PM; born 20 Nov 1851; member of Baptist Church of Quitman; active deacon; first wife - Kizzie DENNAM; survivors by first wife - four daughters and two sons, Mesdames Helen BAGBY and Viola JONES, Quitman; Miss Octavia, Quitman; Mrs. Harry FORBES, Meridian; Walter and Sam, druggists of Quitman; survivors - second wife Miss Lizzie BRUNSON; several children born, only one survived, James, Quitman; funeral conducted from Baptist Church, Quitman, Friday, 4 PM, Rev. R. S. Gavin officiating, assisted by Rev. J. W. Faulkner, Pastor of Quitman Baptist Church; buried at Odd Fellows Cemetery.
