A. M. McLEMORE, aged 69, of Union community, died in a Meridian hospital Saturday at 2:45 a. m. after an illness of three weeks. Mr. McLemore was born in Clarke county November 8, 1860. Mrs. Lottie ROBINSON passed away early Sunday morning, Jan. 26th, after being ill for several months. She was widow of Norman ROBINSON, who died several years ago. Funeral services of Mrs. Marissa STALLINGS, wife of W. J. STALLINGS, who passed away at family residence about four miles west of Shubuta, held recently at Hepzibah Baptist church. Mrs. L. B. FAIRCHILD, Shubuta, died at home last Sunday morning. Deceased had been ill for quite a while and underwent an operation at a Mobile hospital three or four weeks ago. She returned home last Thursday at noon. She was 89 years old, wife of L. B. FAIRCHILD, formerly postmaster of Shubuta; operated the Hat Shoppe at Shubuta; member of Baptist church. The death angel visited home of Mr. and Mrs. Dave SMITH and took from them their brightest jewel, their daughter, Willodean, who departed this life Saturday, 5 PM. She was one year, three months, ten days old. Laid to rest in Center Grove cemetery Sunday afternoon, 3 PM, funeral conducted by pastor, Rev. H. V. Sollie. Enterprise - Accompanied by relatives, the body of "Aunt" Emily ADAMS, 77, who was burned to death at her home here Sunday, was taken to Rose Hill for funeral service and interment. "Aunt Emily", as she was known to every resident of Enterprise, was beloved by both white and black. As she stood before the open fireplace of her home, where she lived alone, her clothing became ignited. Her screams brought white friends to her aid, but she succumbed to her injuries soon after her friends reached the scene.

Thomas A. LEDYARD, oldest citizen of Shubuta, passed away the afternoon of 27 Feb, after lingering at the home of his daughter, Mrs. James WEEMS. He was a Confederate veteran; came here soon after the war with parents Mr. and Mrs. Austin LEDYARD; married three times - first wife was Miss Carrie HEARD, a daughter of Rev. Joshua HEARD, a prominent Methodist preacher; she was the mother of five of his children - Mesdames F. L. WALTON, Muskogee, OK; E. H. CARTER, Fort Worth, TX; Mrs. Mary L. RUSH, Lauderdale, MS; J. H. LEDYARD, Tupelo, MS; Austin LEDYARD, Montgomery, AL. After death of first wife, he married her sister, Miss Nannie HEARD, who lived only a year of two. Prof. S. S. TURNER, colored, died 19 Feb. Born at Shubuta, MS, 7 Oct 1865. For the past 40 years, he had been a school teacher, and was well and favorably known to both white and colored. Walter SUMRALL, eldest son of Rev. R. W. SUMRALL, of near Meridian, died at Port Arthur, TX, 7 Mar. Remains arrived in Meridian on the 9th; interred in Stinson Cemetery, a few miles out from city; funeral rites conducted by Dr. Cox, pastor of First Baptist Church, assisted by other pastors in Meridian; father Rev. R. W. Sumrall was a native and for many years a resident of Clarke County, living near Shubuta, where Walter was born. Survivors - widow, father, stepmother, one sister, four brothers.
Cornelia Calvert LANG, colored, 60 years of age, wife of Rich LANG, died Monday, 17 Mar, after short illness. Mrs. Emma NORTHRUP LANG, widow of the late J. H. (Monk) LANG, died at the family residence in Quitman, MS, Monday, 24 Mar; buried in Quitman Cemetery, 26 Mar 1930. She was 80 years old. Rev. B. C. W. A. TODD, 84, died Monday in Quitman in office of Dr. H. C. Watkins, as a result of injuries sustained in jumping from a truck to recover his hat that had blown off. Lived six miles east of Quitman. Member of Elim Baptist Church for more than 50 years. Survivors - one son, Henry TODD, Quitman; two daughters, Mrs. Will MANASCO, Mrs. GRAYSON. Funeral services held at Elim Baptist church Tuesday, 6 Oct, Rev. Cliff Johnson, his pastor, in charge of services. Rev. B. C. Land, pastor of Quitman Baptist church, assisted.

Nov 13, Rev. O. B. MATHENY answered the call to come up higher, to receive the welcome, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joys of they Lord." He was pastor of the Waynesboro circuit at the time of his death. Before he joined the Methodist Conference several years ago, he lived in the Poplar Springs community. He was loved by all who knew him and we shall sadly miss him; we feel that we have lost a friend. He always wore a smile and carried sunshine wherever he went.
Surviving him are his wife and five children; Robert, Erine, Mary Lorine, Thad and Cora V.; two sisters, Mrs. Tillie DAY and Mrs. Annie BIRCH, of Texas; and a brother, R. J. MATHENY of Poplar Springs community.
Other relatives and a host of friends morn his going but their loss is heaven's gain.
His body was laid to rest in the Hebron cemetery to await the resurrection morn.
