W. D. McBRIDE
CCT, Friday, 12 Oct 1934
A BIG SOULED MAN PASSES AWAY
The following card from the Jackson Paper Co., Jackson, MS, addressed to the Clarke Co. Tribune, brings the
notice of the death of a great man.
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of our associate and representative, W. D. McBRIDE,
Monday, 8 Oct 1934, Jackson Paper Co., Jackson, MS.
Mr. McBRIDE died at his home in Meridian Monday
morning, his death being due to an acute heart attack. His death is a source of peculiar sadness to the
writer of this note. When the present owners of the Tribune bought the plant, Mr. McBRIDE was the first
salesman to whom an order was given. He was then representative of the Taylor Paper Co. in Memphis. And
from that initial order to the day of his death he has shown to us the greatness of his soul as a business
man. For the last several years he has been associated with the Jackson Paper Co, both as stock-holder
and traveling salesman, having all the eastern and southern section of the state as his territory. And
throughout the entire depression period he has held himself together and held the full confidence and
esteem of every news and job plant in his territory. His death is deplored more than words can express
by the Tribune office.
