Juston IVY, 37, died at Rush's Infirmary, Meridian, 1 Jan, 7:45 AM, after undergoing an operation several days ago. Past three years, employed by Stonewall Mercantine Co; prior to that was in the mercantile business in Quitman. The Clarke Co. friends of James Mack CAMERON were grieved to learn of his death which occurred Monday afternoon, 5:30m in a Meridian hospital. At the time of death, serving second term as Chancery Clerk of Lauderdale Co. Asolean DUNN (colored), 59, wife of Muss DUNN, passed away 15 Jan. She was a consistent member of Zion Chapel Methodist Church. She leaves a husband, five boys and eight girls to survive her.
On Sunday, 17 Jan, Mrs. Sara Frances IRBY was called to her reward. "Grandma Irby," as she was affectionately called by almost the entire town, had entered her 87th year, healthy, strong and active for one of her advanced years. A fall, a broken limb, weeks and weeks of confinement to her bed, none of these was sufficient to erase from her face that infectious smile. Had lived in Stonewall over 45 years. Husband died about 32 years ago, leaving her to see that the family was provided for, which she did as bravely and as undaunted as she faced the confinement after her fall. Was a member of the Baptist Church over 55 years. Rev. E. C. Hendrick, pastor, assisted by Rev. T. E. Nicholson, pastor of the Methodist church, spoke eulogistically of her long Christian life. The body was borne to the Stonewall cemetery. Survivors - five sons, Messrs. J. A., Sam, Robert, Will and A. B. IRBY; three daughters, Mesdames A. J. SMITH, F. W. GRIFFIN, J. R. STEWART, Lyman, who died of injuries received when he was crushed beneath a tractor while engaged in construction work on Highway 11, near Vossburg. Mrs. Marion D. ANDREWS, New Orleans, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie GORDON, instantly killed Saturday afternoon in a head-on auto collision on the Air Line Highway, in which two others were also killed and others seriously hurt. Mr. ANDREWS suffered a broken hip and arm, fractured jaw and other injuries, and while his condition is serious, it is not critical. Body arrived in Quitman, 1 PM, Monday, and was carried to her parents' home. Funeral services held Tuesday, 10 AM, Methodist Church, Rev. V. G. Clifford officiating, assisted by Rev. J. D. Elllia. Robert GORDON, small son of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. MOORE, Springfield, IL, passed away 11 Feb 1937. He was ill only a few days and is survived by this parents and one small sister, Frances. His mother will be remembered as Miss Eulalia McGOWAN of this county.
