In the last hours of 1948, our precious husband and father, Clyde MAYO, went away home. Had eight months of intense suffering. Had cerosis (sic) of the liver. Entered Watkins Hospital, Quitman; then to Anderson Infirmary, Meridian; then to the Oshner Clinic, New Orleans,LA; then to Foundation Hospital where he spent one month. He had one great pleasure there, that of being with baby brother George, who was also being treated. George was not able to attend Clyde's funeral, but his wife, Mrs. Inez HUMPHREY MAYO, and his daughter, Mrs. Jack PICKENS, came from Elmore City, OK. Survivors - wife, Carrie; three sons, Hal, Royce, Bob; one daughter, Sara MARTIN; two brothers, Jube, Crandall; George, Elmore City; one sister, Mrs. Oscar CARR, Crandall; a host of other relatives and friends.

Graduate of engineering department, Mississippi State College; veteran of WW1, having volunteered and gone out with Company F Second Regiment Mississippi National Guard and being from that inducted in the National Army.
