Mrs. Em Farish EAVES, 67, one of Quitman's most prominent residents, died suddenly last Friday night following an acute heart attack. She had paid a visit to a neighbor, Mrs. Fred Everitt, Sr., and had started home when stricken. She fell in the yard and died before medical assistance could be administered. Survivors - husband, Maurice L. EAVES; sister, Mrs. Margaret EAVES, Meridian; a number of nieces and nephews. Member of First Baptist Church. Funeral services held at Walters Funeral Home, Quitman, Sunday, 2 PM, Rev. W. L. Meadows, assisted by Revs. V. G. Clifford and Billy Martin, officiating. Interment in Quitman cemetery.

J. B. (Red) EVANS, prominent Quitman citizen and head of the Evans Construction Company, apparently instantly killed when his automobile and a truck-trailer crashed Thurasday at around 1:30 AM about two miles south of Meridian on Highway 45. The truck-trailer was driven by Archie L. Long, 33, Opalocka, FL; the truck was also occupied by Joseph Stecko, 28, Miami, FL. Long and Stecko were injured and carried to Rush Memorial Hospital in Meridian for treatment. Funeral services will be at 3 PM, First Baptist church, Quitman, Rev. W. L. Meadows officiating, assisted by Revs. Billie Martin and V. G. Clifford. Interment in Quitman cemetery. Walters Funeral Home in charge. Died Wednesday in New Orleans, where he had made his home for a number of years. Two teenagers died following injuries received in an auto crash last weekend and a third occupant was hospitalized with serious injuries. Robert Floyd HOBBS, 16 year old son of Mrs. and Mrs. R. E. HOBBS, West Enterprise, MS, died in Watkins hospital, Quitman, Saturday night, and Harvey McNEIL, 14 year old son of (Note: Apparently part of this was left out) Basic, MS, died soon after the accident when their car crashed into a ditch as the boys were returning to their homes from the Carmichael community. Charles LINDSEY, 16 year old driver of the car, was less seriously injured and was carried to a Meridian hospital where his condition was pronounced favorable. Funeral services for Harvey McNEIL held Sunday afternoon at the Enterprise Methodist church, Rev. Wallace T. Mangum officiating, assisted by Rev. Frank Rush, pastor of the Enterprise Baptist church. Funeral services for Robert Floyd HOBBS held Monday afternoon at the Enterprise Baptist church, Rev. Frank Rush officiating, assisted by Rev. Mangum. Interment in Enterprise cemetery.
