Billy McCARRA, 17 year old Stonewall High School senior, died Tuesday, 3 PM, when the single bullet in a six shot .22 caliber pistol with which he was playing Russian Roulette exploded and crashed into his head. Everett ALBRITTON, 16 year old neighbor and friend of Billy was an eye witness to the tragedy and describes it as follows to Deputy Sheriff Preston Cooper. "Mrs. McCarra, Billy's mother had just left for work at Erwin Mills plant at Stonewall. Billy and I were sitting on the bed he picked up a .22 caliber six-shot pistol and took five cartridges out of it and laid them on a table and said he was going to play Russian Roulette. I told him not to try it, but he laughed and said he had five chances out of six to make it. He twirled the chamber and put the pistol to his head behind his ear and pulled the trigger. The gun went off and Billy fell over on the bed." Cooper said the boy was rushed to Watkins Memorial Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival. Prominent Clarke County Citizen Passes AwayQuitman was saddened early Wednesday morning when the news came that Jacob Ernest TONEY, Jr., one of Clarke County's leading citizens, had passed away from an acute heart attack. Mr. Toney was in his office in Quitman and called C. C. Williams, a business associate, asking that he come to him. A few minutes after Mr. Williams arrived, Mr. Toney died. He was 43 years of age. Funeral services held at Shubuta Methodist Church Thursday, 2:30 AM, Revs. Howard Freeman and B. G. Martin officiating. Interment in Magnolia cemetery, Meridian. J. M. (Jodie) HARGER, life-long resident of Quitman and Montrose area, Clarke Co., passed away Thursday, 13 Feb, 5:15 PM, Lafayette Street Convalescent Home, Columbia, MS. Funeral services held Friday, 14 Feb, 3 :30 PM, Montrose Baptist Church where he was a member. Officiating were Rev. W. L. Meadows, pastor of the Quitman Baptist Church; the Rev. Woodie W. Hayes, pastor of the Pleaant Hill Church and the Rev. John Evans, pastor of Montrose Church. Burial was in the Montrose cemetery under the direction of Walters Funeral Home, with Jim Culpepper, Floyd Dearman, Edmond Raley, Charles H. Culpepper, Clay Jay and Thomas Dearman serving as active pallbearers. Had been in failing health for some time, having spent several months, at different times, with his daughter in Mobile, AL, and son in Columbia where he was under medical care. The 10th of December he suffered a fall at his home in Quitman and was carried to his son in Columbia where he was hospitalized in the Columbia Hospital, having to undergo surgery for a broken hip. His parents were the late George William and Lettie Rosanna (BERRY) HARGER, life-long residents of Clarke Co. Had Mr. Jodie lived until May 10th, he would have reached his 83rd birthday. David Wesley BOLIVER, 22, Laurel, MS was fatally injured in auto accident in Stonewall Sunday morning; died at Watkins Memorial Hospital; car overturned several times, according to constable Henry Prince, Stonewall, who witnessed the accident; auto left the street and when it turned over, lone occupant thrown to ground; officer's car traveling behind BOLIVER; was unconscious when carried to hospital; never regained consciousness; constable did not learn victim's destination; survivors - parents, Mr. & Mrs. D. S. BOLIVER, Laurel, and a number of uncles and aunts; services held Monday afternoon at Thompson's in Laurel; burial in Hickory Grove cemetery.
