Old Elam Cemetery
Old Elam Cemetery
Compiled Nov 98 by Bennie and Lance WHITE

From my book, Cemetery Inscriptions of Clarke County, Mississippi, Vol. I

The Old Elam (Elim) Cemetery and site of the Old Elam (Elim) Baptist Church are located in Clarke Co., MS; 9.7 miles from Quitman, MS. Directions: From US Highway 145 at Quitman, take State Highway 18 East for 1.2 miles; bear right on State Highway 511 South for 8.5 miles. Cemetery is situated on the left.

Since Elim Baptist Church was organized in 1838 and the first building erected at this site, it's probable that some graves in the cemetery no longer have markers. Later, the church site was moved to its present location

We have shown dates in the DDMMMYYYY format for easier reading.

We have tried diligently to copy all inscriptions accurately; however, there is no guarantee that this work is 100% correct. If anyone sees an obvious error, please do not hesitate to let us know.
