I have corresponded with Anne Landin from the magazine Argyle Colony Plus.She is searching for McLeans from Cumberland Co. N.C. to Sumter Co. Al. Also, her great grandfather was a Curry, a Baptist preacher in Sumter Co. Al. She also has a Samuel McDonald in Sumter. I haven’t found a Samuel in our lines of McDonalds. Seeking information on Norris Herrington b: 26 Aug 1899 in Attala County, Mississippi and d: 1980 in Mobile County Alabama. Norris was son of James Franklin Herrington and Neoma Croft, Grandson of William Franklin Herrinigton and Pricilla Cagle. Trying to find Norris's marriage to a Lula Mae (Unknown). They had four children, Norris H. Herrington, Dorthy Herrington, Kitty Herrington and Donald Herrington. I have completed Norris's Paternal line, but can not go forth on his Maternal line until I can obtain Lula Mae's maiden last name. She is said to be born and died in Quitman, Clarke County, Mississippi. In addition to being married to Norris E Herrington, she was also married to a George L Ivey. I am seeking information regarding Dr William Anderson whose daughter Minnie L Anderson married Charles Erasmus Horne. I do not know the wife of Dr Anderson but I do have a newspaper clipping that states Dr Anderson lived in Quitman, MS around 1900. I also have the names of 4 other children from a Bible record. They are sons Joe A, Nick A, and daughters Annie and Bell(e). I have no idea how long Dr Anderson lived in Quitman or where he came from. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Seeking any information on the family of Eleanor Fitzgerald. According to the bible kept by the family of her husband (Alanson P. Taliaferro), Eleanor was born 11 Sep 1877 in DeSoto, Clarke Co., MS. They married 22 Jul 1895 in Evergreen, Avoyelles, LA. Until I found this website and actually saw some Fitzgeralds listed, I was beginning to think the entries in the bible were in error. Rev. Asa Iley Jones, Missionary Baptist Preacher, born Aug. 1849 somewhere in NC, died of typhus in 1903 in DeSoto, Clarke Co., MS. Probably buried in DeSoto Cemetery in "Jones" Family Plot. First wife - Alice Ophelia Winsley(?), died bet. 1894-1895 in DeSoto. Second wife - Esther Demaris Smith, died 1910 in Meridian. Had 14 children between the two wives; 11 lived to adulthood.

I am trying to gather additional information about my paternal great-grandfather's family: William Henry Boutwell. The family is listed on the Choctaw County, Alabama 1860 census taken June 1, 1860, post office Grove Hill, family #459. This is all I know about his family:

Can not find much on any of them except a few of the census, no death records, nothing on Frank and Malinda at all. Any help is so much appreciated. Any information for Pvt Needham H Temples Company E Shubuta Guards of Clarke County, 37th Infantry Regiment is Helpful. He was in a Hospital during August - October 1862. Shows he died 20 October 1862. No Grave site found..He was from the Sharon Church area North of Laurel in Jones County.

My great great grandfather Ciscero Howze’s death certificate states he is buried in the Masonic Cemetery in Shubuta or Enterprise. He was born around 1815, probably a slave, and died 1914.

Where are these two cemeteries located? Is there a contact for the two cemeteries? I live in Pennsylvania but expect to be in Clarke County in a couple of months doing family research.

My great grandfather lived in Enterprise and I think he died there around 1868 tho after a visit to the cemetery I could not find him. He was a Methodist minister, donated land to the Presbyterian church, had a hotel was cotton broker and served in the civil war as a captain of the 37th Infantry.. He was married to Messaline Brunson and had Alice, Mary and Violla. His second marriage was to Martha Hundley and had Lura my grandmother, Fannie, Richard and Martha. This was all in Enterprise in the 1860's.

Does anyone know the maiden name of Will Moore's first wife, Lella and the state of her birth if it's not in MS? Their children were Howard, Lella, William, Lillian, and the twins, Louis & Louise. His children with the second wife, Pearl Lee, were Charlie and Pearl Lee. Some of these folks were born in Chunchula AL but spent most of their lives in Enterprise MS. Thanks

Thomas Albert Smith and Elmira Nicholas were married in 1872 in Lauderdale County, MS. I remember stories from my childhood that they had 18 children, many of whom died quite young. I was told they both died and were buried in Clarke County, MS between 1920 and 1930. Their eldest child (Grizzie Belle Smith White Boliver) was my great-grandmother. I was told in recent years that Thomas and Elmira had a sawmill. I am looking for other relatives who may be searching for information on this family. Thank you.

I am looking for Pleasant Brasier/Brashier m. Rebecca Marie Moore. Frances and William Stubbs, and Peter Hubbard and Agnes Chiles from Clarke county, MS.
Sharon Husband Stone, daughter of Margaret Julia Brashier & Warren Husband. I am attempting DAR entry and proof of Pleasant's marriage is needed if only in some publication --if not a permit to marry or license. My relatives are Rigbys and Brashiers.

I have the following dates:Pleasant Brashier born 1800, m. Rebecca Marie Moore (b. 1801) date of marriage 1821 or 1824, maybe South Carolina. He was a Meth minister Methodist E.(episcopal?) was noted once. Pleasant last appeared on 1880 census & was buried in vicinity of Enterprise, Clarke Co. MS. Rebecca was last listed on 1860 census. I scoured your site, and got word by calling courthouse there, that what you say is right.

Rebecca's dad-Benjamin Moore (1769-1846) in Richmond NC & went to Marlboro County SC in early manhood/Married Frances Stubbs who died Sept 1845 was the child of William Stubbs Sr(born in Craven co. later called Marlboro county (Dec 22 1748-June 1839 in Marlboro County SC) and Elizabeth Hubbard (Born Caroline Co. VA in 1748-1830 died in SC) William and Eliz. married 1775-6 place unknown.

Looking for info on the Jabez Roberts family that is found on the 1850 Clarke County MS census. Jabez and wife Elizabeth moved to MS from Wilcox County, AL. Their daughter, Letitia Ann is my great great grandmother and I am interested in any further info on the family. I dont know when Jabez died or where he is buried. I have an indenture deed dated 1841 from Jabez which names the following children: Charles G., Alfred H., Mary A., Letty Ann, Aaron and Mary Roberts Mount. Am happy to share what I have!
