Stonewall Cemetery
Stonewall Cemetery (New Section)
Compiled Feb/Mar 99 by Bennie and Lance WHITE

From my book, Cemetery Inscriptions of Clarke County, Mississippi, Vol. I

Individual data contained on this page may be used for personal, non-profit purposes; however the entire page or portions thereof may NOT be copied, cut'n'pasted, downloaded, or otherwise duplicated for any reason, including posting elsewhere, without express permission of the compiler above.

Stonewall Cemetery is located in Stonewall, Clarke Co., MS, about a tenth of a mile north of State Highway 513 on the Stonewall-Clarkco Road. The older section is located on the right (east) side of the Stonewall-Clarkco Road; the newer section is on the left (west) side. There is a paved road running through the middle of the old section which winds around to the left (around some cedars and graves at the east end) and then runs back into the same road. There is a one-way street around the new section called "Cemetery Loop." The photo at left was taken in the old section near the rear (east side) looking west. The new section can barely be seen in the extreme background.

We have shown dates in the DDMMMYYYY format for easier reading. The (double marker) note means two separate headstones with surname between resting on a double base. The (double base) means two separate headstones (with full names) resting on a double base. Row numbers were determined as best as we could using the cemetery layout and may not necessarily agree with any other compilation (if any) or official cemetery records. Abbreviations used here are as follows: BB = Brick Border; CB = Concrete Border; CS = Concrete Slab; DM = Double Marker; DBS = Double Base; FHM = Funeral Home Marker; FM = Foot Marker; FS = Foot Stone; GB = Granite Border; GS = Granite Slab.

We have tried diligently to copy all inscriptions accurately; however, there is no guarantee that this work is 100% correct. If anyone sees an obvious error, please do not hesitate to let us know. All rows were read from left to right.

Note: Since publishing the cemetery book in which this listing first appeared, I have found errors I made when I entered the data from my handwritten compilation; corrections have been made for this posting. These changes (if any) appear in red on this page. Minor typo corrections are not included.
