Wilson BURT was my paternal great-great grandfather. He was born 21 Jan 1818 (tombstone), probably Abbeville, SC. He died 2 Jun 1884 (tombstone) in Clarke Co., MS. He is buried at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Quitman, Clarke Co., MS. He married Sarah Ann SUMRALL about 1840, possibly in Clarke Co., MS (no marriage records are available for Clarke Co. for the years 1833-1852). She was born 21 Nov 1821 in MS (info from another researcher..not verified). Her death date/place has not been determined, but it was after 1894, according to documents on file in her husband's estate papers. Most likely, she is interred next to her husband at Odd Fellows in an unmarked grave.Recently, I discovered a stack of documents (over 160 pages) at the Clarke Co., MS courthouse concerning the disposition of Wilson BURT's estate. On these pages, I will upload selected papers from this estate settlement. Some have great genealogical value, some do not; but all are important to me.
I have received a lot of help over the years from BURT relatives and others. I would like to try to repay some of that help in a small way by posting these documents on this site. I will try to list them in chronological order. Please feel free to copy/download/print any or all of them. This is a partial list. I will be adding more as I have time.
